Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC, Anthony Palliparambil, Jr. knew from a young age he was destined for a life in the visual arts. From sketching shapeless fashion designs in fifth grade, to selling abstract drawings to his friends in middle school, Anthony's creative journey eventually took him to the University of Maryland, College Park, where he studied studio art and art history. Today, Anthony is a painter/photographer who favors an unabashed use of color, clean lines, and simplistic composition.
While his early works revolved around examinations of light, form, color, and even personal identity, Anthony's current work -- an ongoing series he calls From the Archives, explores the role of technology and social media in art today. Using images from his personal archive of photographic work, Anthony creates "art from art" using only applications on an iPad. He creates a new image every day, posting them to various social media platforms to encourage feedback and interaction from an international audience.
Anthony currently serves as the Exhibitions Manager at a nationally recognized art gallery, and also works as an assistant to a number of DC-based artists. In his (limited) spare time, he enjoys exploring DC, watching documentaries, and researching the history of fashion and apparel design.
